CEREAL KILLERS: They're Everywhere!!

~By Sheila Garcia
We see it all the time. And we try to make it part of our healthy lifestyle. Because we want to be healthy; we want to be fit. But don’t be fooled by the “healthy”, “natural”, and “good for you” misconceptions! Cereals on our shelves these days can KILL you, one flake, ring, or cluster at a time!

Many big corporations and agribusiness conglomerates have learned that people are spurred on by the terms I mentioned earlier, along with many others. Most people will just read the label and buy it because it says so. It’s become a marketing tactic that works to persuade the consumer to buy the product. Add to that the fact that we are told breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and you’ve got a formula for Cereal Killers – what’s worse is: YOU’RE the prime suspect!

Just because they sell it, doesn’t mean you should buy it. You are the only person that can control what goes into your body. Below are some examples of Cereal Killers to be on the watch for, and defend yourself against!

Wheaties – What? Wheaties?!? Breakfast of CHAMPIONS?? Wheaties are one of the WORST cereals you can ingest. Wheaties have been found to contain so much metals that individual flakes can be lifted by common magnets! A video demonstrating Wheaties flakes clinging to magnets has been posted at YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2jFace9D7o. Don’t believe me? Try it for yourself!

Special K – Special K Challenge…well, I challenge you NOT to eat this cereal! Red flag ingredients in this cereal that touts to help you lose weight: sugar, and high-fructose corn syrup. Not an adversary of HFCS? That’s okay, because as you move on down the list of ingredients past that, you begin to realize you can’t even PRONOUNCE the rest of the artificial components that make up this ‘food’.

Kashi – The Cornucopia Institute’s “Cereal Crimes” investigation (yes, that’s a real thing!) uncovered some disturbing facts about this supposed natural breakfast cereal. They found that Kashi cereals contain “high levels” of genetically engineered ingredients, as well as organophosphate pesticides implicated as causes of neuropathy in people. The list of just plain bad things in Kashi goes on, but I would think what I’ve said is quite enough to keep you from pouring your organic milk over a bowl and ingesting it.

The list of Cereal Killers goes on and on in the world of what we consume because we are led to believe it is healthy. But rather than attempt to list them ALL, let me just suggest you proceed with caution when purchasing cereal in the name of a healthy breakfast for you and your family: READ THE LABELS; take control of your life and what you put in your body – in all aspects. Most of all, don’t be partners in body corruption with some of the worst criminals in history: CEREAL KILLERS!

Clean from the inside out – make it part of your legacy!
